Hi there! Thanks for dropping by. Since you clicked on the Long Bio link, I’m assuming you really want to know a little bit about me. Okay, you asked for it…😄
I was born and raised in Bronx, NY. Thanks to true love, I dropped out of college after one semester and came home to be with my fiancée. That relationship didn’t last (bonus points if you saw that coming 💔) and I spent the next few years in a variety of jobs such as a bank teller, receptionist, sales clerk, administrative assistant, and executive sales assistant. (It was during my days as an administrative assistant at a car dealership that I met my real true love.)
After a while, a very wise aunt convinced me to stop bouncing around with these jobs that my heart really wasn’t in and go back to school. I majored in computer science and graduated top of my class, which led to several years working as a software consultant. As jobs go, it wasn’t a bad deal. Coding in software is a lot like solving puzzles, and I love puzzles. I traveled a lot, sometimes to fun places, sometimes to dull places. The money was decent, and I met lots of great people. But it was never truly fulfilling and after a while the constant travel really began to drain me.
So when the crash of 2008 came along and my job got cut I decided it was time to pursue my secret desire to write. Since childhood, reading has been a huge part of my life. I read all sorts of things – romance, mystery, action and adventure, comedy, thriller, and memoir, just to name a few. In truth, I’ll read just about anything as long as it’s a good story. Every time I’ve read a terrific book, I’ve felt a strong desire to create stories that will move others. I’d love to write something in all of the categories I’ve mentioned above, and maybe someday I will, but for right now I’m focusing on romantic suspense, peppered with occasional dashes of humor. To my delight – and sometimes teeth-gnashing frustration – crafting a suspense story is also a lot like solving a puzzle. A very tricky puzzle (hence the teeth gnashing).
A former member of RWA, I served as Chair of the RWA PRO Steering Committee. I have served on the board of my local writer’s group, Romance Writers of Southern CT, for many years, first as Treasurer, then as President. When not writing, I enjoy knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, reading, movies, and hiking with my husband and our feisty 12-pound terrier mix, Spike. You can follow me on Twitter – @MauraTroy – and on Facebook. And don’t forget to become a member of The Troy Inner Circle, benefits of which include exclusive bonus materials, being the first to hear of new releases, and being eligible for member-only drawings and giveaways. Again, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my stories. 😊❤️

Having fun at a favorite local restaurant.

Spike on a hike!
